この映像から流れてくるクジラの鳴き声のような音は、地球の音。
NASAの衛星が捉えた「地球のコーラス」だ。



8月30日に打ち上げられたNasa’s twin Radiation Belt Storm Probe (RBSP) satelliteという地球の放射線帯を調べる衛星が、
9月5日に地球の磁気ベルトから出た放射線を記録した。
もし宇宙でヘルメットを脱ぐことができたら、この音が聞くことができるらしい。

仕組みとしては、太陽風からやってきた荷電粒子が地球のまわりの磁気ベルトに当たり、はじけ飛ぶイメージだ。
